Leaders Project

In August 2001, the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission of Rwanda organized a four-day seminar for high-level leaders in Rwanda. Ervin Staub and Laurie Anne Pearlman facilitated the seminar, which focused on understanding and preventing group violence and psychological trauma.

Participants included political, government, and religious leaders, of whom 20 to 35 attended each day. The seminar took the form of presentations by Professor Staub and Dr. Pearlman, followed by large and small group discussions. In addition, small working groups spent time applying some of the ideas to the current concerns in Rwanda.
